Day 1 — Arrival → Negombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka
 
Your private driver welcomes you at Colombo International Airport. Just 10 minutes away lies Negombo — a relaxed coastal town with a beautiful lagoon, Dutch colonial history, and fresh seafood. Check in, unwind after your flight, and enjoy a peaceful evening by the ocean.

Day 2 — Negombo → Anuradhapura
Sri Lanka's first ancient capital
 
Drive north to Anuradhapura — Sri Lanka's first great kingdom (4th century BC) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree (the oldest historically documented tree in the world), towering dagobas like Ruwanwelisaya and Jetavanaramaya, and ancient monastic ruins that stretch for kilometres.

Day 3 — Anuradhapura → Sigiriya
From ancient capitals to the Lion Rock
 
Drive south to Sigiriya. Visit the Mihintale monastery complex en route — considered the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Arrive in Sigiriya by afternoon and take a relaxed village bullock cart ride to experience authentic rural Sri Lankan life.

Day 4 — Sigiriya Rock & Dambulla Cave Temple

Rise early for the legendary Sigiriya Lion Rock — a 5th-century royal fortress rising 200 metres above the jungle. Climb the spiral staircases to see the famous Sigiriya frescoes and take in the breathtaking summit views. In the afternoon, explore the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple with its five caves, 157 Buddha statues, and 2,000-year-old murals.

Day 5 — Polonnaruwa → Kandy

Day 6 — Kandy — Full Cultural Day
Temples, gardens & traditions

Day 7 — Kandy → Nuwara Eliya (Tea Country)

Day 8 — Scenic Train → Ella
